Homemade Ranch Dressing
Made with Flare More Info'>
I love Ranch Dressing. Love. But I’m also incredibly picky. I can’t stand the flavor of bottled Ranch Dressing! I don’t know what it is. Bottled Ranch just tastes….off. I am so picky about Ranch, that when I go to a new restaurant where I’ve never tasted their dressings, I ask for it on the side of my salad. Just in case it’s awful. And it usually is!
My favorite restaurants make their own Ranch, and don’t use anything bottled or powdered. So I thought, why not? How hard can it be?
And sure enough, it’s not hard at all! With a few simple ingredients, and 10 minutes of my life (plus some chill time), I can have the best Ranch Dressing in my house, no shopping trip required! I would say, this takes maybe 2-3 more minutes that it takes to make the powdered kind that you have to add mayonnaise and milk to. Fast! What’s more? This recipe is really customizable. Want garlic Ranch? Add an extra clove of garlic or two. Black Peppercorn Ranch? Add a bunch of cracked black pepper to the mix. Start with this recipe and change it to make it how you like it!
And that’s that! Pour the mixed dressing into a container for storage. Let the dressing chill in the fridge for at least an hour, and then get ready to enjoy!
Homemade Ranch Dressing
- 2/3 cups mayonaise
- 2/3 cups sour cream
- 2 medium green onions (minced)
- 1 medium hand full flat leaf parsley (minced)
- 1 medium clove of garlic (minced or pressed)
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 to 2/3 cup buttermilk (depending on desired consistency)
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
I a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, except buttermilk.
Slowly whisk in the buttermilk, a little at a time until desired consistency is reached. The dressing will thicken slightly in the fridge, and can be thinned later with more buttermilk if needed.
Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
Will last up to 14 days in the fridge.
Black Peppercorn Ranch: Add 2 tsp. cracked black pepper in place of pepper in recipe.
Parmesan Ranch: Add 1 Tbsp. of fresh grated parmesan.
Garlic Ranch: Add an additional clove of garlic. The garlic flavor will get stronger as it sits, so be careful with it!
Light Ranch: Use light mayonnaise and sour cream instead of regular.
