Bex’s Mother’s Day Gift Guide
Ok. There’s a billion gift guides floating around the net. Mother’s Day Gift Guides are a-plenty. But, I haven’t been super impressed with any of them, really. Most of them are full of crap that no mom actually wants. Or, maybe wants but good grief – not on Mother’s Day! Or just knows it’s not in the family budget.
That’s the thing about moms. We don’t want people spending a lot of money on us. We also don’t want crap that someone picked out “for us” but is really for the house, the kids, dad, cleaning etc…
I saw luggage on one guide. You guys. Luggage. Am I to take that as a hint to get out of the house? Sheesh! Yeah, we all need a good set of luggage. And nothing says “you’re the best mom ever” like a fine set of…… suitcases. Uh. Ok.
So, here’s my Mother’s Day Gift Guide, full of things that I think moms might actually like. And that won’t break the bank!
1.) Saltwater Sandals by Hoy at Zappos. Yes, they make them for adults, and yes I think they are cute and stylish!
2.) Over the shoulder everyday bag by Sineminugur on Etsy. No, it is not too late to order mom a gift online. She will appreciate it any day it arrives.
3.) Hope In A Jar by Philosophy. Trust me. If she hasn’t tried this stuff yet, she’s going to love it. You’ll be the favorite child for as long as you live. Or the best husband ever. Whoever is giving this gift, they win.
4.) Super cute floral print scarf by H & M. If mom is the type to wear a lose scarf day-to-day she will love this one. Plus, it’s only $6.95. Plus it would look cute with the shoes and the bag. Ahem.
5.) Body Shop gift set. All mom really wants to do is relax. This gift set will help her do just that. Dads – listen up. Make sure the kids leave mom alone she can actually get some peaceful time to herself! PS. Satsuma is the best smell ever. EVER.
So, that’s my reasonable, actual, do-able Mother’s Day Gift Guide. Pretty simple stuff here, but hey. That’s what most of the moms I know want.
Here’s a few more ideas for you:
1.) Maid service for a day. I can’t link this one, because it will all just depend on where you live. Call up your local service, get rates for one days worth of top-to-bottom house keeping and find out if you can get a redeemable gift certificate in that amount. Do it. She’ll love it.
2.) Does mom like to work in the yard? Paint? Craft? Walk? Drive? Whatever it is, take the kids off her hands for 2+ hours and let her be to do what she wants. Do not ask questions. Do not make a mess. Do not interrupt.
3.) Breakfast in bed is cute and fun. But if you’re going to do it, CLEAN IT UP! It’s not fun for mom when she has to get up and spend the next two hours cleaning pancake batter off the walls.
4.) Let her watch whatever SHE wants to watch all day. Put the cartoons on in another room, watch your football another day, let her have the remote. Lifetime movies all the way baby!
5.) Just show her you care. It doesn’t have to be a big gift. It doesn’t have to be an extravagant gesture. A simple card sometimes go a long way. Let the younger kids make her crafts. The best thing you can do for mom is to be thoughtful, and helpful.
Happy Mother’s Day and I hope you all enjoy your Mother’s Day weekends!
